About Us

We opened in mid-2007 as Consignment 1st in Harbison.  It was a furniture and home decor store on steroids -- 32,000 square feet.  We were grateful for the warm welcome people of the Midlands gave us and helped us thrive through the Great Recession. We became known for a wide selection of new furniture, manufacturers' samples from the High Point, NC furniture markets, and for unique consignments from individuals. "See it. Love it. Take it home" was born.

In 2013, we purchased and renovated an 18,000 square foot space on Broad River Road in Irmo and changed our name to Main Street Home.

Why "Main Street Home"? In small towns, Main Street was the center of commerce -- a place where merchants knew their customers by name and where customers knew they could trust the merchants. Main Street was a place where people looked out for each other because they were neighbors and friends.  That was -- and continues to be -- what we strive for as we serve you.

Home builders and interior designers staging model homes became a significant part of our business. We learned more about home staging and interior design in order to support our evolving business. In 2019, we staged our first model home.  It won a Gold Award from the Building Industry Association of the Midlands. In 2020, a model we staged in Charlotte won the Best Model Merchandising award from the North Carolina Home Builders Association.

In mid-2021, we sold our Broad River Road store and moved into our current location on Lake Murray Blvd., converting what was originally a child care center and then an antiques mall into a retail store and warehouse.
